Binding restrictions for NC and SC

Binding restrictions are currently in place for all lines of business in North Carolina and South Carolina.  

We want you to have this important information about binding authority for easy reference.

Property and Auto Moratorium:

From the time the National Weather Service issues a Tropical Storm Watch/Warning or Advisory, or Hurricane Watch/Warning or Advisory, the Governor declares a State of Emergency or announces the need to evacuate to avoid imminent danger based on the projection the storm will make landfall on any part of the State, or the entire state, until 24 hours after such notice is lifted no new business, increases in existing coverage, or reduction of any deductibles may be written or bound in the areas of the state identified in the path of the such storm.

The “National Weather Service” shall mean the National Weather Service, National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, and its regional National Weather Service Forecast Office covering a part of the State.

Preparing for Hurricane Florence

To our Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia agency partners:

 As you prepare for Hurricane Florence’s landfall, our first concern is for you, your loved ones and our mutual customers' personal safety. We urge you to take every precaution necessary to avoid the high winds, storms and heavy rainfall that may result from this event. Please follow your local authorities' directives and be safe.

We also want to assure you that State Auto's Claims and Risk Engineering (CARE) team is already on the job and ready to serve you and your customers. To help with last-minute preparations before the storm, use this information from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This is a helpful resource to share with your customers as well.
